Spell Scrolls in Forge
The magic item forge does not appear to be working for creating spell scrolls. The scrolls which are created have the Duration: field showing the text from the Components: field. It also looks like Range, Components and Duration are all slightly indented.Screenshot 2025-02-02 172518.png
And personal commentary - having to recreate all of the spell scroll tables to accurately point to the 2024 spells, since the spell scroll tables from the 2014 DMG point to Legacy spells - stinks on ice. No idea why the 2024 DMG didn't include those tables.Last edited by adminwheel3; February 3rd, 2025 at 01:32.

I've moved this out of the bugs threads since it's a ruleset coding issue rather than an issue with the book.
It was a conscious decision not to include every spell scroll in the 2024 version to keep the number of items down. The ruleset code was added to instead allowing spell scrolls to be created by the user on a by required basis. If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Thanks for reporting the duration issue. We should be able to fix that and also the indenting text in the description.
The other problem with fixed lists of spells at each level is that they get out of sync as soon as additional spells are added. It's not possible for us to have spell tables that span multiple books. A better solution would be for code or an extension to dynamically pull from a list of spells and pick it for you. I don't know that there is enough demand for a fully random spell scroll or spellbook generator though.

Thank you for the help - and my gripe was more directed at the universe - not reasonable decisions you have to make given the reality of finite time and resources.

Doug provided an update to the 5E Item Forge spell scroll creation behavior based on your feedback that is currently in the beta Test channel.

There are already a couple of extensions that will generate random spellbooks for you, located on the Forge. I don't know how they work with 2024 spells, because I'm not currently using it, but you could ask the creators about it in their forum posts for the extensions if you are interested.
