FGU Crashing
so i'm having an issue with FGU tonight. playing with our normal group, that meets every saturday night. myself and one other player have an ultimate license and the others are demo. FGU is fully updated, but mine is crashing every 3-10 minutes it's crashed 7 times so far. when i attempt to log back in I get a license conflict error, but if i give it 2 minutes I can log back in just fine, but it will crash again after a few minutes. i've deleted my license key and updated and attempted to play that way, it crashes, added my license key back and updated and it still crashes. this has only been happening after the most recent update. anyone have any idea what is going on?

Could you have the GM send in a zipped up copy of the campaign; as well as which map you were using at the time?
Could you also send in the FG Logs after your crash? (i.e. Restart FG, click on Log button in upper left of launch screen, click the Compile Logs button, send the resulting ZIP file to this thread or to FG support.)
Thanks,

There was an update on Friday to address a crash bug on Mac and Linux when using images with LOS or lighting enabled. Are you running on either of these platforms?

@Ahzad, I think Carl is asking whether your group updated before the game on Saturday to the latest version (v4.6.3 [2025-01-10]).

yea we all updated before the game on Saturday, and no one is using Mac or Linux. I seemed to be the only having the issue. I'm typically the host, but I do switch off on occasion with the other ultimate license holder when I need a break. so I was a player on Saturday.
this is the first time i've had any issue with FG since I started using it.
The GM is looking into exporting his campaign, it was a savage worlds 50 Fathoms game, and the map so hopefully I'll have it attached soon. I did attach my logs though.
thanks,Last edited by Ahzad; January 12th, 2025 at 22:34.

@Ahzad - please describe what actually happens. "Crash" can mean different things to different people.
Private Messages: My inbox is forever filling up with PMs. Please don't send me PMs unless they are actually private/personal messages. General FG questions should be asked in the forums - don't be afraid, the FG community don't bite and you're giving everyone the chance to respond and learn!

a square box appears in the middle of the screen with a red exclamation point and a bar cycles underneath of it and FGU shuts completely down. If I don't wait at least 5 minutes or so before attempting to log back in I get the license key conflict error message. it repeated this same behavior I'm thinking at least 7 times in a 3 hour period. I was able to play 45 to an hour at the longest stretch sometimes and then it would crash after 10 minutes of play. The last time it did it, it crashed while attempting to log back in and I called it a night, it was at the near the end of the game and I frustrated enough I just had another player control the character while I told them what actions to take over discord.
I had on my open on my end the combat tracker, my character sheet and the play map.
Like I said this is the first time I've had any trouble with FG in all the years I've used it now.

I didn't see any crash information in the logs you posted. Did you grab the logs on the exact next launch after the crash? If you fired up FG more than once since the crash, than the logs will no longer be available.

you know I think i did start up another instance after we finished the game I wanted to see if it would do it again, but I wasn't connected to the GM's game it was one of my own. I'll have to see if we can get together later this week and log back into his game and see if it will do it again so I can get some good logs.

Thank you. The logs will help to tell us at least the type of error occurring.
Also, if you have any details of what exactly you were doing when the crash occurs, that would be very useful as well.
Thanks,
