    How to let Player control NPC token

    The only way I found to allow the player to control an NPC token was to turn on the setting to set party vision and movement to ON and to make the NPC friendly. However, this means that the player can now control ALL friendly tokens. I found a kind of a workaround by making the rest of the players neutral. Anyway, and ideas regarding this? Thanks.

    There is a free extension called Friend Zone I think that will do what you want. But you'll have to check into it. Make sure it works in ruleset you play.
    Free(Forums/Forge) Extension(FGU 5E):
    Paid (Forge) Extension(FGU 5E):

    I thought you could just drag the token from the combat tracker onto the player's avatar in the upper left to give them access, just like with notes, images, etc? I know I have given my players control of their personal mounts in some combats before.

    Indeed that shares the NPC with the player. However without turning on Party Vision ond Movement the player will not be able to move the token. They can do everything else; just not move them.
    If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

    Unless someone has solved this, I think what I'm going to do is ask the player to use a pointer (line) to show the movement they want the NPC (their familiar, etc.) to make. Then I'll move the token accordingly. Not all that different from having to approve movement anyway.

    The option Party Vision and Movement resolves this. So does the extension Friend Zone.

    The other option is to have the PC create another character sheet for the Familiar/Pet and just change characters. Friend Zone is hasn't been updated in a long time, you should use a fork of it Pets instead.

    Thanks. I'm not clear how, though. Nothing I've done with player vision and movement has resolved this.

    Could you provide the specific steps to make this work or point to another thread or video that shows how?

    [Edit]
    Still curious about how to party vision and movement would fix this, but Pets extension solved my immediate need. Thanks again for responding previously.

    Thanks. I did manually create and edit a character to give it the abilities listed in its monster stat block. (The PC has a sprite familiar.) But I don't want to have to do this whenever a player summons a familiar or summons monsters via spell or magic item. I'll take a look at Pets!

    [Edit]
    Thanks for suggesting the Pets extension. It worked perfectly for what I needed.

    Share the NPC directly to the owning PCs portrait. This gives them access to the NPC sheet. If PV&M is set to On, then they can also see and move from any token in the party, including the NPC that has been shared with them.

    Our table actually uses Giorgre's suggestion and create a second PC sheet for any NPCs that are going to be around for awhile, such as familiar's and commonly summoned allies.
