This is the lowest price licenses have ever been sold for - by a long way.

Yeah, the license prices are the lowest they have ever been up to now and it's for just another day.

I am a dedicated homebrewer...I own both Foundry and FGU. I, personally, prefer FGU. There is going to be a learning curve to either option, but in my opinion, there is more capability in FG right out of the box. I only play virtually/online. In my opinion, FG is so powerful and useful, even with all my homebrew, that if I were to do a face to face group, I'd find a way to use FG at the table.
Please understand, I'm not saying Foundry isn't a good program, but as a homebrewer, I found it easier to create content in FG. I've created several full campaigns entirely in FG as well as new races, classes, subclasses, etc.
There's a great community here that is ready, willing and able to help you get started.
Whatever your choice is, good luck.Currently DM for the 5E homebrew campaign, Dragonlance: Fury of the Dragons (Sun, 9am-12pm EST) Alternating
Currently play as Scrax, a Ysoki operative/gunslinger, in Starfinder's Dead Suns adventure path (Sun, 9am-12pm EST) Alternating
