    Map Editing Tools Hidden

I updated to 4.6 this afternoon, excited that we can use text labels on maps, but unfortunately all of the tools in the map editing panel are missing. Drop downs, text boxes and the colour wheel still appear, but on a translucent black field.

I've turned off all extensions to no effect, and I tried loading with a couple of legacy themes. Legacy themes that have an opaque panel background seemed to work, but any that had a translucent panel background have the same problem. I've attached an image of each case. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks for any insights.

    Welcome to the forums.

Have you tested in a new campaign without extensions or themes? I'm not seeing any issues in my existing campaigns or a new one (but I don't use extensions).
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Welcome to the FG forums @jtu

Please recreate the issue and then compile your logs - details on how to combine the FG logs can be found in the FG Wiki here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassia...o+Compile+Logs Use option 3 after you've recreated the issue.
Private Messages: My inbox is forever filling up with PMs. Please don't send me PMs unless they are actually private/personal messages. General FG questions should be asked in the forums - don't be afraid, the FG community don't bite and you're giving everyone the chance to respond and learn!

Thank you for the quick replies! I tried a new campaign, created an image, but it had the same problem. I restarted FGU, tried another, and it worked. Unfortunately my main campaign still has the same problem with the existing maps. However, if I create a new map, the map tools are showing. So... yah.

I forgot to add that when I tested my Traveller game earlier, it did not have any issue.

Trenloe, I will try to find time tonight to follow your compile log instructions and see if that shows anything. If nothing else, I can always roll back to the previous version.

Can you please provide a zipped up copy of your campaign folder, as well as the names of a few of the maps affected? I'd like to set up on our local machines to see if we can recreate and identify the issue/fix.

    Thanks,

I'm finally finding time to address my FG problem today, a week later! I'm very sorry about that, and will send the zipped campaign to you directly, Moon Wizard, to see if you can replicate my issue.

The problem I'm encountering persists, but I have honed it down a bit and its very odd. On smaller campaign files, there doesn't seem to be a problem. Maps open, the edit tools and layers are visible and functional. Unfortunately, with our 3 year old campaign, there are problems. If I open a map using the Images tab on the right side, maps open with tools visible and a cream background. If I open a map from the hotkeys, it opens with a translucent editing tools background and no tools or layers are visible. If I mouse over the layers section, the layer name tooltip pops up still!
After one map shows up this way, all subsequent maps open the same way. Even if I open a different campaign, a map that had been working fine would then have invisible tools and layers is in effect. Opening Traveller, after the tools were showing invisible in the D&D campaigns, was also broken, but different: the layers panel has an opaque background and the tools are showing, but the layers are invisible and the tools don't work.
If I reboot the program, everything resets to a visible editing tools and layers state.

After many reboots, I've narrowed things further: any use of my shift/ctrl keys trigger the invisible map-edit/layers panel. I noticed that using the secondary shift/ctrl hotkeys triggered the problem, but now found that using the shift key to rotate a token or to even capitalize a letter in a text panel will cause the invisible panel problem.

When I ran a game last weekend, I used a legacy theme. This avoided the panel invisibility problem, but none of the map edit tools worked and layers weren't visible or accessible. My players struggled with some of the problems that other people have reported: hard to grab tokens, always grabbing the map instead, a few dice dropping and generally jittery functionality.

We just pushed a new hot fix update that should fix the issue. Carl wasn't able to recreate directly, but found a similar scenario that he fixed. Please run a new Check for Updates; and let us know if still an issue.

The hot fix has paritally solved the invisible panel after I hit shift or ctrl keys. After I use one of those keys and open a map, the map edit tools are visible and functional now, but the layers remain hidden. The attached image shows that when I hover over the layers panel, layer names pop up in a tooltip label, so the layers are there but they're invisible or hidden.

Thanks for the picture (and the campaign via PM). I've created a ticket for Carl to look at. Hopefully, it is something specific to the data, so we can reproduce here.
