LFG 1P UK Time Zone With game idea Willing to pay

    FG License: paid
    Time Zone: UK
    Term: i.e. Long term
Voice: Hyper X Alpha S headset

Looking for an old school style DM/GM.

Open to both paid and unpaid games.

Game System Preferred: Any that included a trading system (reason given later) and setting that allows for royalty/nobility (if there's a modern or sci-fi setting which allows for both, I'm open to the idea)

Game System Experience: D&D 5e, D&D 3.5e, Pathfinder 1e (video game only), Star Wars Knights of The Old Republice

Fantasy Grounds Experience: I've played around a little to get a feel of it

Game idea: a merchant hires several adventurers to help with running his trade. Where it will lead is up to the DM/GM and other players (while the scenario assumes that the merchant has the final say on everything, the idea is that the merchant will have a mostly Laissez-Faire attitude to where the party will go, unless there's little or no profit to be made, then some convincing might need to be done, as it would be if that was in real life). While the idea implies there's no room for dungeon crawls and the like, like I wrote before, if there's a profit or good reason (even comraderie) it will fit. Furthermore, the game doesn't have to lead to PC achieving his ambition, there might be a war or he might decide to settle down in a city or village because he decided he's not cut out for it.

Character idea: the aforementiined merchant with ambitions of becoming a noble or royalty (by no specific means, be it by purchasing land, being knighted or otherwise). More details will be adapted to the setting/system. But the prototype idea is that the PC is a Battle Sorcerer variant from 3.5e (https://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/c...BattleSorcerer) but he will have to earn a bloodline to use magic during the campaign, but before he does he'll be a discount warrior with focus on charisma (not necessary, but I like the idea of earning magical power through roleplay rather than start with it, but it's merely a personal preference). +

If I didn't make it clear, I want to work with the DM/GM on this idea, that's why there's a lot of things that are open ended which will adjust to the setting and DM's/GM's rules/preferences.

About me: newbie roleplay enjoyer, eager rule follower, character dynamic appreciator, terrible self-seller.

I'm running a Shadowdark RPG campaign that might fit what you are looking for. The class you are wanting may be a hard fit but I can definitely work on adding a trade "system" in. The PCs start off down on luck and have adopted the adventuring life to make ends meet and find their fortunes. It is a sandboxish/hexcrawl/small dungeon crawl style game in a homebrew setting. There is no overarching plot but plots will develop as the party explores and acts in the world. There are events going on outside of the party's scope (but they are not world shattering or changing events like say Sauron is moving full steam ahead on world domination type things) and the party may hear rumors of them, but they will need to willfully get involved in those things on their own if they are interested.

We play on Saturdays starting at 4PM Central US time (I think that would be about 9 or 10 pm your time).

I started off with a few rumors and "minor" events in the starting location they could investigate and then I create new adventures and hook based on what they follow up with and the goals they choose for their characters (the downtime activities are used to help advance these goals).

I am adapting the Carousing Downtime that comes with the game to apply to other situations. I have created downtime activities for researching histories/items/locations/peoples/spells/adventure possibilities, class training to upgrade class features outside of levelling, participation in religious rituals, shopping (you get XP for shopping in my game, lol). My most prized creation for a downtime activity is for one of the characters to evangelize and gain followers to the "underground" religion he is part of. I have also started on working out boons for different accomplishments he gets along the way of creating an established religious sect in the starting city. I have been pondering on how to implement this for running a stronghold (and similar things) and I think your trade company idea could fit in very well.

Here is a link to a free PDF version of the the ruleset to see if it a game you would be into. I am using extended material that adds more ancestries (races) and classes so that it is closer to 5E in those aspects (fyi, classes are nowhere near as powerful as they are in any edition of D&D after AD&D). It is basically OSR using the 3-5E ability score bonus progression.

I'm honestly sorry, but I'm hoping to catch a DM/GM who is yet to start a campaign because right now my weekends are blocked off until I manage to find a new job (right now I work Friday-Monday, 10.5 hours a day). I have some hope for a lead that was bought to me yesterday. But until I change jobs, I have plenty of time to discuss the campaign and wait for players to join, because from what I've heard, on most systems that aren't newest D&D edition it will take some time to find people.

Appreciated. If you have any DM/GM friends who want to start a campaign, would you mind sending them my way?

Will do. You may also want to check out the different Discord channels (including FG's) for more access to people looking for players and groups.
