Several questions on moving FGU from Desktop to Laptop and the use of cooling pad
Hello.
Sorry for bothering you but I have a few questions. I will be moving my FGU from my desktop to my new gaming laptop.
Here my questions&remarks:
- To install the game on laptop I will use Steam, as I did the first time. I have Ultimate License upgrade. What should I do? reinstall the FGU VTT and then the ultimate license upgrade? I have these codes well stored if needed?
Where do I find instructions?
About moving content I found this from a post of 2023, still ok?
"On the old computer, open FG and click the folder icon in the top left. Copy everything from that folder to a USB drive or similar. On your new computer, after installing FG, do the reverse - click the folder icon and copy the contents of your old computer on your USB drive to the FG directory. Or, you can temporarily store the old data in a cloud storage solution (DropBox, Drive, Box, etc.). But don't have your FG installation data directory pointing at a cloud storage/sync solution when using it - just use the cloud as temporary storage to facilitate copying the data from your old computer to the new computer."
- About playing on a laptop, do you advice a COOLING PAD? I am thinking about it.
- FGU is better played as a GM with connection to ethernet cable RJ45? not WIFI correct?
I will use a MSI THIN 15 and only discord + FG while playing.
Thank you in advance for your replies, you are really a great community.

Moving data is correct
Re: Cooling pad I think you should see how it goes first

Installation instructions are here https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassia...sy+Grounds+VTT
And what damned says about the rest of your questions. If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Have you already ordered it? Edit: I missed the bottom view, it does have bottom vents. So a cooling pad wouldn't hurt.
If you haven't ordered yet, do NOT skimp on the memory or HD upgrades. I did and then went to upgrade my SSD and found that the factory overtorqued the mounting screw and had to send it back for the repair center to remove and replace the screw. It was so tight I was seriously worried about cracking the mainboard trying to get it out.
The 6gb for the video feels s bit light to be for a gaming rig.Last edited by Nylanfs; Yesterday at 13:47. Reason: Found the bottom view
