Questions.....if you would be so kind?
Hello all. I recently dove in and purchased the FGU along with lots of 1e/2e modules. I am looking to create a hybrid VTT experience.
People have told me it is possible, but I am unable to figure it out.
What I am looking for if it is possible.
I want to run maps that have LOS and can be utilized readily. I want to be able to place my party on the map and have the mobs there as well. I will run everything in the real world just need a map and LOS etc as opposed to old school vinyl maps and the ability of the players to see my maps entirely and any traps or secret doors.
I don't need anything else. We keep track of days, food, exp, loot all in real time and in person. I dont need the character creator either.
Is there a way to do this. I am aware the system was not designed for this but I am also unawares of any MAP programs that allow for LOS maps in real time with realistic icons and maps to scale.
Any insights would help. After 30+ h0ours of trying to learn the system, I think I made a wrong choice in buying it....oh well.
Let me make it clearer. I want to be able to load a map place my party on it along with mobs and have it to scale. I want the LOS. I will move the enemies and the players, and they can see it. I want nothing else.

Are you going to have a flat table top screen or a standard screen that the players can see?
First up you will need to have the characters in FG - they dont have to be complete and up to date but if you want LoS to work they will need things like their race and senses etc and if you are using torches and light spells they too will need to be in FG to make the lighting work (alternatively just have the rooms lit).
Will the players move their own tokens? If so they will need at least one computer connected so that they can control the token movement. Otherwise they can tell you where they want to go. Some people use the flat screen/table and set the grid to exactly 1" (actual real dimensions) and place miniatures on the map. The players move the miniatures and the GM then moves the token so that the LoS and lighting follow.
Let us know if you have gotten that far yet or if you have questions about things Ive written.
