The shields are listed in the Defenses section right below the attacks. They need to target the attacker or have the All check box on the defense check to have it apply.

EDIT: Shields aren't usually included in the DB for the NPC. The DB for them will be included in the modifiers when the attack is resolved if what I said above is set.

Thank you! Indeed, I had not set the mark at the”Against all” beside the Shield entry and my attacked, shield-bearing PC was attacking another NPC. Therefore it seemed to me that the Shield was not taken into account at all.

Thank you for the help and explanations. Quite a long learning curve but for the 1st time in years I will soon have an adventure in Middle Earth with my old buddies. Nearly there …. :-)

Your welcome. There is a learning curve but it isn't too bad. The biggest issue is just remembering everything at first. Have fun in Middle Earth.
