    Great sale again - question on ending up with 2 licenses

    At friggin $10 I was thinking of getting a second license. I already have an Ultimate and I use a second copy on another PC to text my extensions and adventure modules I work on. I kind of prefer not using my non license demo if I can just get another this inexpensive. I picked up my second Ultimate (meaning had prior FGC one) during the Kickstarter with all the nice extras you guys gave us backers. So another $19 is barely a top

    So, how would I do this? I need to create a second account on the forum for the login? I forgot what I needed to make my first one years ago. Was it just an email (I already use several) or phone or?

    The only downside I see is not have the tokens and what have you that came free with FGU KS (and perhaps a Humble Bundle I did once) other than that I wouldn’t need all the rulesets or modules I’ve bought since I’d be using it to connect to my Ultimate license and never a a DM.

    You can just buy another license using your normal account. Licenses aren't tied to your account; only DLC is. So you can have multiple licenses.

    Question, are you connecting to a session on your main game to test, or just using it as a vanilla test environment? Because you can use the same license key on multiple systems for that, they just can't connect to the same game session.

    Trying to host a game on my ultimate. Then connect to it from one of the other PCs (Linux or Mac technically as I run only one native Windows PC in my office)

    I did so by using my normal “account” but removing my ult key from the app.


    I’d prefer connecting with a different “name” in the sense that then I could still do that (new license) and do a third with the demo license connection.

    I understand I could do that by creating another forum account for the demo license. But figure I can keep the demo using my account and new “name” (ie account) for the actual second license.

    I just wanted to make sure it is a new forum login I needed to register under if I wanted the new license to have its own “name” when connecting to the host FG instance.

    Ok then if I decide I wanted to buy DLC to use on that std license, I would THEN create an account and I could then take that same key and put a diff username on it?

    (And my longer prior post was about wanting to be able to connect with a name other than “Varsuuk” to distinguish should I want to test with multiple “clients” connected)

    OK, gotta ask since we ran into this once.

    1) If my account owned 2 or more ultimate licenses, could I run 2 different campaigns, 2 sets of players, at the same time on Cloud with both having access to my purchased shared items? (obviously I do not want to actively DM at the same time, I want to leave both campaigns open so my players can use my books to edit and create their characters in either one or I could run a session in 1 letting the other open.)

    2) If yes, would I need to run one on one machine and one on another using the 2nd Ult. license?

    3) or Could I have 2 different FGU installs on the same machine each with the same login but separate Ult Licenses?

    This is not something I have run into a lot but I absolutely would use it if I could.

    3B) Oh but a secondary question... for number 3, Can I have 2 installs so I can field test updates on one of them (so I can decide if it is safe to update due to my 40+ extensions)?

    No, because the Cloud lobby uses your account name for uniqueness. So it wouldn't know which campaign to connect players too.

    No, probably. Because the license key is stored in the user registry. So maybe if you started one, changed the license key and started the other. But... sounds sketchy to me

    Sort of. You can't on the same environment, but you can create a Virtual Machine/Desktop on your computer that acts like a completely different computer and install it there. This same approach could be used for #3.

If no, then this would be something I know I would pay for as it would be ridiculously less expensive that having multiple account logins and buying books and licenses for each one. (which I would not do so it would increase sales IMO)

    Technically it could be done. i.e. use a combination of username and campaign name to define uniqueness. License wise, maybe not. Would be too easy for people to share a campaign to randos with all books available.

    But, it's worth adding to the Feature Request list if its' not there. imo, licensing issues are for SW to worry about, not us
