    Exclamation FG 2024 5e Combat Changes/Errors?

    Some new Observations>

    Character Sheet, CW no longer reports or helps prevent doubling of skills, requiring GMs and players to be careful when building characters, or pay more attention at the end, before committing to the changes.

    Combat: Critical Hit to damage was not handed off and no extra dice were added or noted.

    If you roll a 20 on the d20 for an attack roll, you score a Critical Hit, and the attack hits regardless of any modifiers or the target's AC. A Critical Hit lets you roll extra dice for the attack's damage against the target. Roll all the attack's damage dice twice and add them together. Then add any relevant modifiers.

    Combat: Automatic Death Saves do not trigger despite the campaign options settings.

    Here are some changes to death saves in Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition for 2024:

    Ability score reduction
    When a player drops to zero hit points, a randomly chosen ability score is reduced by 1d4 points. This is due to the injuries sustained from the nearly fatal blow. The reduced ability score increases by one point after a short rest and is fully restored after a long rest.
    Death saving throw DC increase
    The DC for death saving throws increases by one each time a player drops to zero hit points. This makes it more difficult to make death saving throws the more times a player drops to zero hit points. The DC only resets after a long rest.

    We are no longer gatekeeping duplication and opened it up. We will be expanding adding more alerts to help when it does occur, but we won't limit it.

    We will be adding warnings to denote duplicates in the next week or so to highlight those scenarios in the Character Wizard.

    I do not see those rule changes on death saves in my copy of the PHB 2024.

    Theme: Console Error

    Regardless of the rules mentioned, the Death Saves did not trigger after the PC went down in combat.
