    Moveable Grid Layer Request

    Hey all.

I was sure this was already requested at some point but I couldn't find it so I submitted a request to have the grid be adjustable so it can placed beneath walls, decorations, etc.

The name of the request is: Have Grid be Moveable Between Other Layers

Please vote! For the sake of map aesthetics!

In the meantime, you could always make your own grid image and place it on a layer that you control.

I have done that and it's not too bad for squares*, but it's been a PITA for hexes. Although, I will admit it's been a while since I tried hexes. I may have better luck with it these days since my GIMP-fu is more advanced.

*I just make a transparent square the size matching the DPI of my map, e.g., 150 x 150 pixels. Then make a single-pixel line along 2 adjacent sides. Save it out and use it as a floor texture on a separate paint layer. Boom.

The grid is independent of the layers in FG. It’s drawn on top of the layers.

Are you asking for grid to be drawn in between layers?

Correct. That way I could put it right on the floor with the walls on top of it. Or, for regional maps, I can have underneath any map decorations such as labels, compass rose, border, etc.
