    Random Table Question

I have looked far and wide for the answer, but I just cannot find it. I am trying to make a random Wandering Monster table, but want to make another column which will roll 1d4+1 of the creatures, so that it will populate an output to Encounters, but [1d4+1x] doesn't work, nor does [1d4x+1] etc. Does anyone know how to do this?

I apologize if this is a truly silly question, but it has been bugging me for a day. Happy 4th of July, folks!

    Some more info and screenshots?

If you just want random number of creatures, you can do a random encounter instead of a random table. Preparing Encounters and Random Encounters - Fantasy Grounds Customer Portal - Fantasy Grounds (atlassian.net)

But assuming you want multiple rows, then see the random treasure table example here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassia...Treasure-Table
    Or see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1rZ...-KM_R&index=13

I think the issue is that you're trying to do it with a second column. The dice roll is actually added to the same column as the link to the NPC.

[1d4+1x] works as you can see from the screenshot. Make sure that you drag in the NPC that you want and then enter your random number between the link and the NPC's name as shown.

As LE says an arguably better way to create random encounters is to link random encounters to the table. Random encounters has more flexibility that doing it directly in the table.

If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

You can generate the random number from any (or all) column.

That is different from what it states in the Wiki and definitely doesn't work the way the OP is wanting. The encounter only ever get's a single NPC.

That said, depending on what the OP is trying to accomplish, regular Random Encounters linked to a table may serve them better.

The wiki just shows an example. I see nothing in the text that says you can't have a random number in anything other than the first column. Unless you can point me to that.

All the text states "click next to the" link, table, etc., not "click the column next to".

I think I just realized the distinction here...
What you are saying is true if all you're doing outputting text to the chat.

If you are outputting to an Encounter or a Parcel, it won't work unless the dice expression is in the same column as what you are rolling for and must have the x at the end of the expression (but still inside the brackets).

Yes. The random treasures example in the wiki is more apposite here; but it's the same for anything. The dice expression with the x needs to be contained in square brackets next to the item/NPC etc that you want a random number for. It doesn't matter what the column or row is as long as you have it next to the link.
