    Quick Maps

    Quick maps question. I tried to use my own imported tiles with the quick maps feature, use as tiled. The small-large options did nothing to tile the image. I tried with Fantasy Grounds assets and it works. Is this feature exclusive to Fantasy Grounds store or art subscription packs only? Are there any minimum requirements or caveats to tiling a tile in the quick maps feature? I tried to use my own tiled textures to no avail.

    I've done some testing. For the Quickmap fill options, FG will create a map with the following dimensions and put a 50x50 pixel grid on it. It made no difference whether this was my own asset or an asset from an FG module:

    1. Small = 750 x 750 pixels
    2. Standard= 1,350 x 1,350 pixels
    3. Large = 2,500 x 2,500 pixels

    If your base image is larger than these dimensions then you'll see a clipped image - the top left remains, clipping will be to the right/bottom. If your base image is smaller than the dimensions, then you'll get tiling.

    The gridded size of the maps are set to:
    * Small = 15x15
    * Standard = 27x27
    * Large = 51x51

    The sizes were specifically picked so that the zones could be divided 3x3, and that each zone would have an odd number of squares to provide a center grid for each zone.

    The maps will be tiled within the region, based on the asset metadata (assuming 50x50 grid if none defined).

    Question

    The image I used was 1024x1024, png, square. Whenever I tried using them they do not tile at all. This is a fresh campaign with no extensions. Maps and asset or such within Fantasy Grounds, no problem. With the tiles I imported and made, I tried other formats and such, it seems to behave the same and leave one square as a painted layer and such instead of a repeated tile, so no 3x3 ,etc.

    This is working for me with the same size image file.

    If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

    There's no image in the ZIP file you attached so we can't test with your specific image.

    However, the screenshot you provided shows a "small" quick map (I can tell because it's 15x15 squares). Which, as mentioned by Moon Wizard and I above is 750 pixels x 750 pixels (50x50 pixels per square) if there's no metadata with the image. As the image you're using is 1024x1024 then you're only going to see the top left 750x750 pixels of that image when selecting "small" - this is exactly what your screenshot is showing, so this is working as expected. I think you're confusing Moon Wizards 3x3 statement, you'll only get tiling if the image you're using to tile is smaller than the end map, and the image used to tile won't be resized - it'll be clipped appropriately based off the quick map size selected (details provided in previous posts) and the size of the tile used.

    In your example (a 1024x1024 tile) you'll get:
    1. Small = 750 x 750 pixels = 73% of one 1024x1024 tile.
    2. Standard= 1,350 x 1,350 pixels = one 1024x1024 tile plus 32% of the tile horizontalyl and vertically.
    3. Large = 2,550 x 2,550 pixels = two 1024x1024 tiles plus 49% of a third tile horizontally and vertically.

    Okay, if this is the case where it's a misunderstanding about the minimum requirements, I'd like to get this up on the Atlassian guide. I do not recall seeing much about this requirement. Thanks for the breakdown. Maybe in here?

    https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassia...uct+Guidelines

    And here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassia...with+Quick+Map

    I opted to try to do the Large map size fill, use as fill tiling and this ONLY worked in a LARGE fill mode. I tried the same starting base image as 2000x2000 .png file, and as 1000x1000 and could not get any fill tiling except in the Large Map size for "Use as fill", which makes no logical sense to me. I'd expect similar behavior in all three 'use as fill' options, and not just the Large fill mode. So, this makes fill rather useless or confusing if it cannot tile or fill in the other fill size modes. Is there a recommended size dimension for the base image to be used as fill? The image is stretched and only filled at the larger use as fill option?

    screenshot0099.png

    Are these the tile sizes for each fill option?
    In your example (a 1024x1024 tile) you'll get:
    Small = 750 x 750 pixels = 73% of one 1024x1024 tile.

    UPDATE: I have it worked out now, thanks Zacch', my perception, use case, and math was not right!
