I don't know, I think it more likely that SJG lacks the technical department to support this AND it may very well be it is just not worth the investment.
They may decide to do it if it's feasable but they have to invest in areas that make the most money, otherwise they could go out of business forever.

No matter how much they might WANT to do it, even if they really really wanted to, if there isn't the base to support it, they are just falling on their own sword.
A good leader isn't going to throw their army away on a battle they can't win.

I voted for it, so I'm in, but I also understand that a business has to make money or it's not going to remain a business.
Let's hope they find a way to make this worth their time and energy.

Whether a ruleset gets developed in Fantasy grounds is usually down to there being an skilled developer. In the case of GURPS this exists, the ruleset is excellent and better than some of the paid rulesets released on for Fantasy Grounds. The cost for SJG for a official ruleset would be down to overseeing the licence and providing the files to developers which isn't a huge expense though the actual ruleset may not be enough to generate profit to half a days wages for someone at SJG to oversee the GURPS on FG Personally I think that is SJG loss and that we have a supported ruleset that supports imports from GCA and GCS so its pretty easy to run GURPS on Fantasy Grounds. Saying that though it would be nice if the current developer got some compensation for all of their efforts over the last few years

I think the primary thing GURPS fans would like from SJG is to officially support the ruleset with content to make games easier to run. It would be great to have the primary GURPS books (with traits, skills, spells, items, etc) available in FG itself.

Official or not, I will keep developing the ruleset for as long as I need it to play GURPS, and I plan to be playing until the end of time. :P But, it would be nice if SJG would support the community with official content.
    Timezone: Australian EST (GMT +10).
    Systems/Rulesets: GURPS 4th Edition.
    Campaigns (Ultimate License Holder)
GURPS Traveller - The Empty Peace
    GURPS Shadowrun - Power Plays
GURPS Banestorm - Dark Clouds Rising

I will be blunt here - when I had the chance to peruse through the various VTT systems out there, FANTASY GROUNDS won out BECAUSE of the work of Ronnke. So, that's over $200 worth of money out of my pockets in light of the $150 license I paid initial in classic, the extra money I paid to get Ultimate license in Unity, plus the money I paid to buy a regular license for one of my players, and the Cyberpunk Red game.

That being said - one of the issues facing some of the GURPS players is the inability to find other GURPS players to game with - a situation I suspect will only grow worse as we get older. Me? I'm facing the loss of my job as it gets outsourced to a foreign nation - a prospect that scares me in today's job market. So, until I get a new job, I will likely have more time available to start learning to utilize all of the bells and whistles in Fantasy Grounds.

Steve Jackson has every right to play with the Golden Rules: Who has the gold makes the rules. He owns the Intellectual property rights, but until he can be convinced that having people play online is a way to perhaps satisfy a small segment of his market - we have to accept what is, and move on.

My Vote is: If there can be an Official Recognition of the rules set - I'm all for it. I would also suggest the possibility of a "limited duration" official recognition - which is for a given period of time (say two years for example) the right to have an official rules set can be set to test the waters, and expire if SJGames is not happy with how it is going. This way, SJGames can test the waters, see what it is like, and then continue it if they like it, or discontinue it if they don't. Just a thought...

If SJG says yes and signs up to FG, it costs them NOTHING to get the GURPS rules already on FG made Official - and then they would receive a sales commission - so to them its money for nothing (and ronnke would get a % too)

I think the only way SJG is going to pull the trigger on anything is if someone puts forward a proposal in which they can evaluate and decide on.

I believe that as has been said, the work of making a set of rules that works (which has already been done) is already a great way...
Now the possibility of reselling the GURPS material in a different way where SJGames and the creator of Ruleset and modules would receive a % here where the larger % would be with SJGames...I believe it is extremely promising...
Of course, this is my achismo...
