    ATK Effect not working correctly

I don't think the ATK effect is working correctly.

    5e 2024 ruleset.

I have an effect in the combat tracker

    ATK: 1d4, melee

    that works perfectly

    ATK: [CHA]
    ATK: [-CHA]
does nothing. the character has a +2 bonus to strength bonus normally and I am trying to add a charisma bonus.

    ATK: [CLERIC]
    ATK: [HLVL]

I am also noticing that none of the other ATK effect modifiers seem to work. the above two are doing nothing as well

The only ATK effect that seems to be working is:

    ATK: 1 (or any constant)
    or
ARK: 1d4 (or any dice combination)

    thoughts?

These are all working for me. Note that in the case of the PCTags (the bits in square brackets) the effect must be applied from the actions tab otherwise FG has no idea what should go in the tag.

If you are doing that and it's still not working and you are sure that the syntax is correct I'd suggest that maybe an extension is the problem if you are using extensions. Test in a new campaign without extensions to eliminate that possibility.

If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

I am writing it directly in the effects section in the combat tracker.

I think I have attached a screen shot

In that case such effects won't work. As noted in my answer above if you are using effects with PCTags then those effects must be written in the actions tab of the PC and must be applied from there. FG needs to know which character's ability score/level/class is to be used so the effects need to come from that characters sheet in order to determine that. Effects such as ATK: x or ATK: ndn will work since FG doesn't need any information from the character sheet in order to make such effects work; but as soon as you add in a PCTag you need to create the effects in the character sheet action tab.

I see, so that means you cannot have a spell or an effect be cast or an environmental effect be "placed" on a target that incorporates the ATK: [STR] or ATK: [-CHA] mechanic. Only ATK: -1, or ATK: 1d4.

OK. I will try to incorporate that. I would think that ATK: [-CHA] [SELF] would satisfy the requirement pf knowing which character information is needed if written in the effects tab of the combat tracker, but I can probably make something work.

    Thanks

This is standard FG functionality as it's a trade-off - rather than have a performance hit of working out the [...] substitutions at runtime, as FG can parse through the effects multiple times when an action is triggered, it applies the variable when the effect is added from the PC sheet actions tab.

Plus, it's specifically designed to apply the variables from the source PC sheet when the effect is added to target/s in the Combat Tracker - [CHA] is the Charasma bonus of the source of the effect, not the [CHA] bonus of the target, for example.
