5e Swap Initiative
A small extension to allow DM's (and players if the DM allows it) to swap initiative rolls in the combat tracker as per the revised Alert feat in the 2024 rules.

Try this one out and let me know what it breaks

Just added a similar capability natively in the beta Test channel.

I'll leave it up for now. If you could shout me back in this thread when it's natively in Live that would be great, and I'll delist it then.
Cheers, Steve.

Do either the extension or the new beta functionality account for preserving effect durations for those rolling initiative every round and using Effective Initiative extension to update effect durations?

Hi,
The simplest way to deal with that is to have 'Turn : Stop at round start' enabled so that no effect based actions are taken until you hit the next actor button.
This will enable the DM/player to swap initiatives without messing up any effect duration/activations/deactivations.
Although, you have just pointed out I also need to adjust the 'initiative to adjust on field'.. I'll try and look at that soon.... In the meantime, Stop breaking my stuff!!!

New version up, should (hopefully) take care of initiative adjustments when using random initiative.
Let me know if it works

Thanks for taking a look at this!
It seems to set 'Initiative to adjust on' (ITAO) to the new initiative score even if the original Duration/ITAO were 0. I'm not sure if that will cause any issues or not, but it's something to note.
It also looks like it just sets all ITAOs to the new initiative score of the actor, even if they had an ITAO of a third party actor (for effects that end at the beginning/end of the actor who placed the effect's turn). This, I think will cause issues.
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the fix is simply to preserve the original in this case... It maybe needs to check to see if the swap moves past an effect to see if it should be triggered. (i.e. swapping shouldn't let an actor skip an effect)
I'm not an expert on this, but I'm thinking it might need to work analogously to PF2e's "Delay Turn" action (which is a perfectly reasonable house rule in 5e IMO):
"...When you Delay, any persistent damage or other negative effects that normally occur at the start or end of your turn occur immediately when you use the Delay action. Any beneficial effects that would end at any point during your turn also end..."
I'm happy to help test more or answer any questions.

I'll see if I can get time to look into this during the week. No time right now though unfortunately.
Cheers, Steve.

No worries. It sounds like it might be fairly complex!
For my purposes right now I'm not rerolling initiative every turn, so just a straight up ability to swap that respects ITAO and duration would be fantastic.
I think Silent Ruin (uses reroll every turn) and/or Rhagelstrom (Effective Initiative) may have some insight into how rerolling initiative every turn might play into this. Effective Initiative might already be able to do a lot of the heavy lifting here...
