2024.12.12 minor fixes
quick update to address a few minor graphical bugs.
the "Fame" title now defaults to "fame" ... rather than empty string.

I want to use this program and rules in my own 5e game, but where can I access the explanations of these rules etc. I know it is Pathfinder but I don't know which edition and which book to check.

I believe the actual rules are located in the Pathfinder Kingmaker book.

Click on the "Free Player's Guide Download" button here: https://paizo.com/store/pathfinder/a...th/kingmakerap and refer to the "Kingdoms" section.

I seem to be at a loss. I added in a new settlement that the PCs created. But when I bring up the settlement, I cannot alter any information on it. I have 2 buildings (it came with a Town hall and they built Houses) but no information is populating (Town, consumption etc.) Not sure what I am missing or if I did something wrong.

troubleshooting new settlement
The settlements view is not directly "editable", so maybe I am not understanding your question.
You first create new buildings and assign them to a settlement.
This updates a list of "kingdom structures"
Opening a given settlement, filters only structures that match the settlement name.
Then it iterates through them to generate the values for the settlement view(s).
That includes ALL of the meta data fields on the top of the page, such as level, influence range, size, item stacking limits, monthly food consumption and number of residential buildings.
basically, everything about the settlement is generated from the list of structures assigned to it.
See the attached screen shot ...

And if you can provide specific details, I might be able to help further.

ruleset compatability
If you just want to understand the rules, I'd start with the free download from Paizo.
It leaves out a few things, such as the list of Kingdom events that can occur.
But the PDF covers all the basic mechanics and is system agnostic.
If you have questions about it, feel free to ask them here.

So here is the screenshot of the new settlement. It has 2 buildings in it, but no other data is populated. I added the settlement in the inventory tab using the "create item" menu. Not sure if there was a step I missed.
Thanks

Ah. So, order of operations is what did this. Create buildings first. Assign to a name and then create the name in the inventory list. That fixed it.
