    Update issues for mac

I've tried this numerous times over the past month thinking eventually it would be fixed. I've tried to fresh install, update from finder, turn off computer between. Nothing fixes it. All the menus are gone, no dice, and when I try to open things from shortcuts the story, npcs, module, etc are all empty.

I'm at my wits end always having to go back to a 2 month old update backup to run games for people.

I'm not well acquainted with macs but from your log files it would seem that your version of FGU (4.1.16) dates back to March. The current version is 4.3.2 and dates to 11th November. So it would seem that something is stopping you from getting updates. And this is where my mac knowledge isn't good enough to diagnose this. If it were windows I'd say anti virus software or maybe something on your router like flood protection. It's also a little unclear if you are starting as the DM or as a player. Certainly there are lots of failures in the logs to connect.

My only thoughts are to completely reinstall the client; that is remove everything related to the installation, not your data folders, just the installation. Again I don't know how that works on a mac but for windows I'd say just delete all of the folders in the installation location. Once deleted I'd suggest a clean reboot and then download and install the client from the website.

Hoepfully more mac knowledgable people can provide more insight.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Have a look at this post by Moon Wizard regarding macOS issues, seems like removing the preferences file (plist) helped some users with various issues.

macOS does have built in Security features (XProtect and ) whether or not those are the source of the issue the links should at least get you started on checking.

To be honest, I've never had to muck about with the Windows security settings for FG. I've installed on a MacBook and so has my wife, we've never had any issues, and the wife has an M1 MacBook (the one I have is Intel).

The link above to the other thread provides some good troubleshooting for macOS that you should try out. Hopefully one of the suggestions there will get you working again.

Something to think about, what ruleset(s) does this happen with? Can you start a new CoreRPG campaign and does it work? If so, then it would be something unique to the ruleset you are using (CoC7e?) Check your rulesets folder, make sure you do not have a sub-directory with the ruleset name (i.e. an unpacked ruleset directory). Then try deleting just the ruleset file and re-updating.

@Zacchaeus is correct - the version of the base application you're running is too old. The errors in the screenshot are caused by up-to-date ruleset code calling API functions that are only available in more recent versions of FGU - hence you're getting the "nil" errors related to new dice functionality.

    Try these steps:
    - open Finder or Spotlight or Terminal and navigate to : /Applications/SmiteWorks/Fantasy Grounds/FGUpdaterEngine
    - launch the FGUpdaterEngine.app found in that folder
    - the .app will run through an update and close
    - you can now navigate to : /Applications/SmiteWorks/Fantasy Grounds/ and launch FantasyGroundsUpdater.app

If that doesn't work, delete /Applications/SmiteWorks/Fantasy Grounds/FantasyGrounds.app and run the updater again from the steps above.
