LFG, 4 players, Dark Greyhawk, D&D5e
Thanks very much for all the interest everyone and the game is now full.
The Great Kingdom is sundered, collapsed into chaos after the decade long Greyhawk Wars. The insane overking, Ivid V, advised by a malefic priesthood and conversing with fiends atop his malachite throne, remains in power, but the foundations of his Empire are fractured. Revolution is in the air and rebellious nobles manoeuvre against their liege. Great armies, once the envy of the Flanaess, wander the lands as freebooting mercenaries, stripping the once-abundant treasures of this great nation. Six centuries of imperial civilisation have descended into appalling tragedy. Hundreds of thousands of people have perished, and vast tracts of the Kingdom are now controlled by warlords, monstrous forces, and even demon kings. Many regions are independent in all but name. Anarchy is everywhere. In this merciless nightmare of insanity and cruelty, only a few pockets of resistance fighters, good and valiant rebels, can be found.
It is now the end of Coldeven, common year 585. The Peace of Greyhawk, which brought the continent-wide wars to an end, was signed just two months ago. But who is in power? Which borders still stand, and which have been dissolved? Can anyone be trusted, or have Scarlet Brotherhood agents infiltrated every court and tavern? For now, nations and their armies are exhausted, but few believe the peace will last. Surely it is only a matter of time before this terrible conflict breaks out once more.
In the midst of this upheaval your journey to the anarchic frontier town of Dornelan seemed a good idea at the time. Securing wealth and fame out of chaos is what adventurers do, right? But several near lethal encounters with the psychotic Glorioles "regiment" – a rag tag collection of imperial army renegades and orc mercenaries who now control the town – has caused you to reconsider your options. And now, after the sudden arrest and execution of one of your associates, you find yourself in a desperate race to escape these chaos infested lands. However, the town gates are sealed, and there are rumours the rest of your party are wanted for questioning...

This adventure path is designed for players with a deep appreciation of roleplaying and a love of the game. With a rich tapestry of characters, locations and encounters there is much to explore. But be warned, those who fail to understand their surroundings, or how to manoeuvre between the numerous competing factions, are not likely to survive. And underneath the facade of each adventure, deeper layers exist. Plots exist within plots and faction within factions - can the mystery be unravelled to find the true secret of the Greyhawk Wars, or is it all just mere anarchy loosed upon the world?
Players who enjoy old school gaming, fantasy politics, detective work (Dan Brown/Umberto Eco?), and collective world building are particularly welcome, as are those already familiar with the Greyhawk Fantasy Setting.
As an experienced GM I provide a highly detailed world to explore and shape, with challenging encounters to overcome. In terms of games management please bear with me for the initial sessions - this is my first entry into FG.Last edited by Mountjoy; February 25th, 2021 at 00:49.

Two players have stepped forward to take on the challenge of negotiating the anarchy of the crumbling Empire. Can the descent into chaos and despair be reversed, or is it enough simply to survive? A warlock and druid are the first two characters to attempt the escape from the Fortress town of Dornelann. Are you brave enough to join them?
Thursday 7.30pm - 10.30pm GMT, playing twice every 3 weeks. Discord Hawkwind #5733.

Three player slots gone but still room for one or two additional players. If you sometimes get irritated by the linear path in a bought module, you might enjoy this campaign, an open world populated by many factions and benefitting from the rich detail and extensive lore of Greyhawk, the original campaign world designed by the creator of D&D.
Who do you trust, who do you fight, who do you ally with and who do you avoid - that's for you to decide. Set against the backdrop of a decadent empire tearing itself apart, your choices in this world really matter.
We have an experienced mix already so if you are a more recent player please feel free to come forward. Anyone interested in playing a fighter class, in particular paladin or ranger, would also be welcome - I think the group need a bit more armour...
Although the timezone is GMT, US players with regular morning or afternoon availability are certainly free to sign up.

Thanks Prometheus. The backstory is based on Greyhawk "From the Ashes". It was written 25 years ago and I love the dark edge to the material. A decadent empire descending into evil, with its despotic ruler resorting to increasingly desperate measures while his power crumbles from within, provides a dramatic backdrop. I've heard WotC are considering more Greyhawk material following the Yawning Portal, so perhaps another generation of gamers will encounter this epic world before too long.

Are there still places open? If so, I'd be interested in joining.
