Any of the Updates, Core 2022, High Guard 2022, Central Supply Catalog 2023, ETC...

We were told taht since we have already purchased the original that it would be given to us for free when the updates were available.

It was discussed in the thread Core Rule Update 2022, Post #15, This is in reference to saying that we get the updates free. There is more discussion about it but that was the one where he stated the Mongoose Matt confirmed it.

After researching this fully, there is a bit of a mess that we are left with. Madbeardman was a community developer who ended up working full-time for Mongoose for a very short period of time before he stepped down. He was doing all the conversion work for Traveller products and he made commitments back in 2022 to give away the conversions he was planning to do. He never did these conversions and never delivered them to us. He stepped down before actually doing any of that work, so he basically promised a bunch of work for free for people and then left before that work was completed. In order to resume product support for Mongoose Traveller products, we opened up the system to new community developers and we had several step up to the plate. These new community developers are working under a standard commission rate that we have for most of our product lines (15%). The amount of time and effort they invest in doing this conversion work is substantial, and the 15% commission at the volume we typically sell is often low compared to the work effort. It is very much a labor of love.

Despite this, it doesn't look good for one of our community devs to make promises to the community which may have lead to customer purchase decisions.

We think the fair and balanced solution forward is to bundle the 2022 update versions and the previous versions in mini-bundles that grant a 50% discount. That lowers the cost for the new versions while still providing some payment for the effort in converting the products. This will be applied automatically once you add it to your cart and it sees that you already have the pre-2022 version.

While i do own all the Traveller core books on FG and bought some because of that post because of the getting the upgrades for free i can not in good conscience take hard earned money from anyone who has or is working on the upgrades as they did not make the post and thats a lot of work, However i bought all my core books via steam so i am wondering how the 50% dsicount would work there with the proposed bundles?

The bundle should show up on the Steam product page. It is set up as a "Complete the Set" type bundle, so it should automatically recognize that you own the older version on Steam if you are logged into the same Steam account that made the purchase.
